-----SERENA’S POV-----

Lunch time eventually came around and I was too terrified of everyone to even go eat, so I just sat outside of the cafeteria. I listened to Asking Alexandria’s song Moving On and I just felt awful...again. I know my dad told me that I’m stronger than this but I really don’t think I am. Suddenly, a noise stirred about my ears - it was so loud that I could hear it over my blasting music. I took my earbuds out and looked in the direction of the noise and I saw a kid get tossed out of the lunch room. He quickly stood back up and slammed on the door then screamed some profanity before turning to see me wiping the tears from my eyes. He gave me a questioning look and I just looked away but on the inside...I was begging that he would speak to me.

“Are you okay?” he asked sweetly.
“Y-Yeah…” I lied.
“Then why are you crying?”
“It’s a long story.”
“I’ve got time,” he chuckled, flipping his long hair out of his face.
“Okay...but let’s go upstairs so nobody in there can hear or see us.”
“Good idea.”

We walked up to my english class, my favorite part of the school, and I related to him my story. He kind of chuckled at me and I felt bad but he reassured me that he wasn’t laughing at me. In fact, he actually thought of something hilarious we could do with the condoms. Fill them with milk or lotion and throw them at everyone who made fun of me to scare the crap out of them. He ran down to the cafeteria then brought five milk cartons back and we began filling our ‘ammo.’ We then ran to the stairs outside that everyone had to pass by in order to get back to their classes. The bell rang and when the sea of people passed by, we dumped the entire box on everyone. Mr. Roarbaugh -- my grandfather -- actually got a chuckle out of it and let us off with a warning. Suddenly, today didn’t seem to be too bad.

-----TIME LAPSE-----

Finally, the school day came to a well-deserved end. I walked outside and hugged the strap of my bookbag to my body, growing anxious to see my father after such a long year. My heart sped up when the rest of the kids came pouring out in a roar of laughter and nonsensical talk. Not to say there’s anything wrong with being nonsensical because I very much am and that would have been incredibly pretentious of me to say.

“Hey, Serena!” Nikki called, waving at me.
“Hey!” I smiled, waving back.
“You waiting for your dad?” he asked pointing to my shirt.
“Yeah.”
“So, I’m just curious...what’s it like to have a rockstar as your dad?”
“It’s pretty cool. I went on my first Warped Tour when I was about 10 or 12 and I got to chill backstage with Asking Alexandria, BMTH, and Bullet For My Valentine.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. The guys from those bands act as substitutes for my lack of friends.”
“That’s awesome! Think I could come over one day and ask your...I think he’s your uncle, Ashley, a couple questions about being a bass player? I’m writing a paper on it for music and I also really wanna learn.”
“Sure! He’s got a ton of guitars at his place, I’m sure he’d love to mentor you.”
“Awesome.” Beeeeep, beep, beep. “Well, that’s my mom. I’ll see you around.”
“Bye!”

Vroooooom
“Hey Serena!” uncle Ash winked at me as all the girls gazed at him on his Harley in awe.
“Hey uncle Ash,” I smiled, approaching the bike. “What made you wanna pick me up today. Your dad said you were feeling down in the dumps so he asked me to take you out for a night around the city, since it’s Friday.”
“Really?!”
“Yeah. Your mom dropped off your pajamas at my place so you and Kim can talk about girl stuff, if needed, then you and I get to pig out on the ice cream when she goes to bed.”
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?”
“Love ya too, kiddo. Alright, hop on and hold on tight.”

The whirring of my uncles motorcycle, the wind blowing back my long blonde hair, the cool breeze running over my skin, all of it just seemed to be so perfect. I just closed my eyes and listened carefully as he hummed a new song of theirs that I had yet to hear. I was anticipating the release of their new album more than anything. Now, I had heard a couple of their new songs but they were only bits and pieces of the actual song itself. I loved my dad’s music, mainly because it reached out to kids like me, but also because it’s really amazing - and that will forever be my opinion.

We arrived at uncle Ashley’s and I immediately felt at home. I was with my people, as everyone at school would say, and I always felt welcomed by my parents, aunts, uncles, my cousin Joe, even my grandparents. I set my bookbag down and was immediately welcomed by aunt Kim  with a plate of brownies. I giggled and politely told her no thank you. She groaned because uncle Ash doesn’t eat brownies unless a fan asks him to. I suggested she take them to one of the homeless shelters in the city and she immediately jumped for joy and called my mom so they could go together. That left my uncle and I alone for I guess the entire night, which was perfectly fine with me.

“So, you said you were taking me out tonight?” I asked sweetly.
“Yes and I am. Go get dressed for...I guess a rockstar-ish kind of look. Dress like you’re getting ready to go on stage.”
“Okay!”
“I’ll get dressed too.”
“Alright and I have something to tell you about what happened at school today.”
“Okay.”
Awe, she gets some bonding time with her uncle! Oooh, she makes a new friend?!  ;)
